Parks for Us. A Vision for the Future.
We believe Montana—with its rich culture of outdoor recreation and abundance of natural and historic assets—should have one of the strongest systems of parks and recreation in the nation.
We envision a state park system that doesn't simply end at the park boundary. Parks should be more deeply connected with communities to enhance quality of life and economies. We should invest in trails and routes that increase connectivity between parks and our towns. We need more opportunities for outdoor recreation and accessibility in order to relieve the pressures of growth. And parks should be well-staffed and well-cared for, exceeding national standards and matching the landscapes of which we are so proud.
What could this vision look like in your community? We're working to develop our vision into tangible, on-the-ground plans and we need local champions to help. As the vision gels, we'll be launching a public-private capital campaign to help us achieve it. Montana State Parks Foundation hopes to leverage funds from private donors to secure a significant, multi-year capital investment from the legislature over the years to come. This initiative is in its infancy, so ask a board member how you can help and keep checking back to see how we progress.
