MONTANA STATE PARKS FOUNDATION COMMUNICATIONS INTERNSHI
Internship description: The intern will be responsible for developing social media content for the Montana State Parks Foundation (MSPF). Primarily focusing on written content, the intern will develop our "park of the week" social media and newsletters. The intern will also select a field experience to participate in and write about.
Internship terms:
- Must be currently enrolled in any college in Montana (open to all majors)
- Volunteer position
- Minimum one semester (or summer) commitment with the opportunity to extend internship
- No more than 10 hours per month, schedule is flexible
- Monthly meet up with Montana State Parks Foundation staff – in person, phone or zoom
- Weekly email/call/text correspondence with MSPF staff
- The intern's main task is researching and writing a weekly "Park of the Week" newsletter and social media post
- The intern will work the MSPF and FWP to select a volunteer field experience at a state park. Many various opportunities exist and this experience can be fine tuned to suit the intern's interests, location and availability.
- Additional optional work may include helping at events, writing thank you letters, data entry, etc
Intern Skills and Requirements:
- Intern must be self motivated and able to work independently
- Strong research and writing skills
- Ability to appeal to diverse followers and readers while promoting the MSPF mission
- Passion for storytelling, the outdoors, Montana history and recreation
- Familiarity with social media (instagram and facebook) trends, topics, etc
- Proficient standard computer skills and access to a reliable computer and internet
- “Remote” internship, no travel required except for field experience
